Title: Amends Penal Code Related to Firearms
Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that amends the California Penal Code to implement new statutes related to firearms.
Amends the California Penal Code to implement new statutes related to firearms (Sec. 1).
Requires the licensing authority to issue or renew an individuals license if the applicant is not a disqualified person and at least 21 years of age (Sec. 1).
Repeals the good character and good cause requirements from the issuance criteria established under previous law (Sec. 1).
Specifies that an individual shall be deem a disqualified person if they are, among other things, a danger to themselves, others, or the community at large (Sec. 1).
Increases necessary firearm training requirements to at least 16 hours and cover topics such as safe storage and the legal transportation of firearms (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the licensing authority to charge an additional processing cost fee for a license renewal and collect the first 50% of the fee upon filing the application (Sec. 1).
Prohibits an individual from knowingly possessing a firearm in any building, real property, or parking area under the control of an airport of passenger vessel terminal (Sec. 2).
Specifies that an individual shall have there license revoked if the licensing authority has determined that the licensee has provided inaccurate or incomplete information on their application for a new license or renewal (Sec. 3).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 6).
