Vote to pass a bill that reduces work requirements for the CalWORKS, which is the state public assistance program.

Highlights:

• Reduces work requirements for the CalWORKS, which is the state public assistance program (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the parental deprivation and immunization requirements and instead only require that those specified applicants and recipients eligible for unemployment insurance apply for the CalWORKS program (Sec. 1).

• Amends the welfare-to-work program by repealing the job search requirement and the requirement that every recipient participate in work activities as a condition of eligibility, and renames it as the family assistance program (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that an individual who refuses to participate in the aforementioned program without good cause shall be subject financial sanctions (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 3).
