Title: Expands Social Insurance Programs Applicable to Transportation Network Companies and Drivers
Vote to pass a bill that expands programs available for gig economy workers to claim insurance and other benefits.
Defines terms “Digital network, “Driver”, and “Transportation Network Company” (Sec. 1).
Establishes an experience rating account for each employer in the transportation network business (Sec. 2).
Specifies that benefits paid to an individual shall be charged to the experience rating account of each employer (Sec. 1).
Specifies that employers seeking relief for furnishing a benefits account may receive it if the individual works part time and they are eligible for benefits due to losing employment at two other employers in recent history (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the department of transportation may disclose the following piece of information to the Transportation Network Company to best furnish coverage (Sec. 2):
When a driver has elected coverage;
A driver’s premiums;
When a drivers coverage has been withdrawn;
Information related to third parties operating on the drivers behalf.
