Title: Prohibits Open Carrying Semi-Automatic Firearms in Public
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits open carrying semi-automatic firearms in a public place in the state of Virginia.
Establishes that it is unlawful to assault fire-arms on any public street, road, alley, sidewalk, or public park (Sec. 1).
Prohibits the public use of the following (Sec. 1):
A semi-automatic center-fire rifle that expels single or multiple projectiles through the explosion of combustible materials;
A semi-automatic center-fire rifle which has a detachable magazine;
A semi-automatic shotgun that expels single or multiple projectiles through the explosion of combustible materials; or
A shotgun that can hold more than seven rounds
Establishes that these provisions shall not apply to law enforcement officers or military personnels, in the field of duty (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the use of assault fire-arms in lawful hunting or lawful recreational shooting, unless it has been rendered inoperable (Sec. 1).
Requires a minimum fiscal impact of $50,000 to individuals charged with the public possession of the aforementioned assault fire-arms (Sec. 1).
