Title: Authorizes the School Community Eligibility Provision Maximization Act
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the school community eligibility provision maximization act.
Specifies that this act shall be known as the School Community Eligibility Provision Maximization Act (Sec. 1).
Alleges that the Nebraska state legislature believes that every student deserves access to healthy food during the school day (Sec. 1).
Specifies the definitions applicable to the community eligibility provision (Sec. 2).
Specifies that each school that has qualifying students above 50% for the program shall operate under the community eligibility provision to help make the most of the federal reimbursement for breakfasts and lunches (Sec. 4).
Authorizes a waiver of the requirements of this act if the school district is able to show that the requirements are not financially viable for the district (Sec. 5).
Authorizes the Department to provide technical assistance to any school district that is granted a waiver under this section to help them meet community eligibility provisions in future years (Sec. 5).
Specifies that nothing in this act shall prevent a school district for collecting information from the parent or guardian of a student to determine eligibility for other services (Sec. 8).
Authorizes the state board of education to adopt rules and regulations in order to best carry out this act (Sec. 9).
