Vote to pass a bill that requires children who have their 5th birthday on or before September 1st in the state of California to attend Kindergarten before enrolling in first grade

Highlights:

• Requires children to be admitted to the first grader after they have completed a full year of kindergarten and have their sixth birthday at an appropriate date outlined by the school district governing board (Sec. 2)

• Specifies that parental choice is also upheld in the requirements for children to attend kindergarten, meaning that homeschooling is also included in kindergarten enrollment (Sec. 1).
