Vote to adopt a conference report and pass a bill that prohibits the use of machine gun conversion kits in Mississippi.

Highlights:

• Establishes felony charges for anyone who possesses, manufacturers, or uses a machine gun conversion device who is not authorized by federal law to do so (Sec. 1A).  

• Defines machine gun conversion as a device intended to convert a semi-automatic firearm into a machine gun (Sec. 1B). 

• Exempts any device designed to aid the operator of the firearm to discharge more accurately or to pull the trigger quicker as long as the operator still has the function of the trigger for each shot fired (Sec. 1B).

• Defines machine guns as any weapon that shoots automatically more than one shot without manual reloading by a single function trigger (Sec. 1B). 

• Violations of this act will result in a felony and a prison sentence of a term not more than ten years and fined no more than $10,000 (Sec. 1.2). 

• Specifies any person convicted of a second or subsequent offense will result in a felony and a prison sentence of a term not more than fifteen years and fined no more than $20,000 (Sec. 1.3). 

• Establishes this act as the Jeremy Todd Malone Law (Sec. 1.4). 

• Authorizes this act to be in place after July 1, 2024 (Sec. 2).
