Title: Abolishing the Death Penalty

Vote to pass a bill which sentences criminals, who have been convicted of three violent felonies or a capital felony, to life imprisonment instead of the death penalty.

Highlights:

- States that if a jury finds beyond a reasonable doubt one or more aggravating circumstances exist the defendant shall be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibilityof release or parole. However if the jury does not make the required finding that one or more aggravating circumstances exist, the defendant shall be sentenced to life imprisonment (sec.3). - Mandates that an inmate of an instution, sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of release or parole, shall remain incarcerated for the entirety of the inmate's natural life [sec. 4 (C)].
