Pro-life | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I believe that all life has worth, every individual has potential, and every child deserves opportunity. Myopponent supports abortion on demand. I do not. And I am opposed to federal funding of abortions. At the same time, I know the importance of comprehensive preventative and prenatal care for women, and my wife Robin is a registered nurse currently working in women?s healthcare in Central New York. As our Member of Congress, I will ensure that full coverage of maternity care is included in whatever new health care reform is advanced. |
Yes | In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
No | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Not at this time. When we get more Americans back to work, the federal government will realize needed increases in tax revenue |
Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes. But I support equitable, fair campaign finance reform that respects the underlying intent and protections created by our Founding Fathers. |
Yes | Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
My twenty-plus years of experience as a federal prosecutor tells me that capital punishment can be an effective deterrent. But such decisions are best left to the individual states and not Congress. |
Yes | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes | Do you support lowering taxes as a way of promoting growth in the economy?
Yes | Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation? |
No | Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
No. Decisions on what gets taught, how, and when in our public schools are best made by classroom teachers and education professionals on the local and state level, not by federal bureaucrats. As a Member of Congress, I will advocate for the federal government fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for students with special needs. It is a grossly underfunded federal mandate, and its costs are weighing down local school systems and local taxpayers. |
Yes | Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
Yes | Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
Yes, but in a balanced, level fashion. |
Yes | Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
Yes | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes, but not at the expense of consumer choice. |
No | Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
We need to do more to enforce the laws on the books now and better eliminate loopholes. We need to enforce gun safety, not reactive gun control. The Second Amendment protects the individual right of law abiding Americans to own a firearm. But those rights should not extend to known terrorists and convicted criminals. |
Yes | Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
I support the complete overhaul of Obamacare, whether that includes its formal repeal and replacement or well-crafted amendment based on consensus and common sense, preserving its most popular and cost effective provisions. We need real, workable, and truly affordable health care reform that allows Americans to choose and control their own insurance coverage. It must be patient-centered first and foremost, with decision-making controlled by the patient and his or her medical professionals, not bureaucrats and politicians. |
Yes | Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
American is a nation built on laws. Any immigration reform must respect those immigrants who have played by the rules despite economic hardship or short term family separation. America needs a realistic approach to immigration that is tough, fair and practical ? tough in terms of better enforcement and border security; fair meaning that taxpayers should not have to shoulder unfair burdens; and practical so that any reform effectively addresses the problem and restores the rule of law. |
Unknown Position | Do you support same-sex marriage?
|
|||
Regardless of my personal views, this is ultimately a state issue that has already been decided. |
Yes | Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
Yes | Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
If needed. As a nation, we must take pause and think before using military force. However, we must project a strong military to the negative actors of the world. The use of ground troops should absolutely be the last resort. But in terms of strength of negotiation, our Commander in Chief must have all military options available to him or her in each situation. |
Yes | Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Social Security and Medicare are a sacred promise that must be honored. Always. |

First and foremost we must end the partisan bickering and put an end to Washington career insiders taking care of their own. Secondly, onerous aspects of Obamacare must be fixed to reduce the financial burden placed on working families and small businesses. Additionally, real economic reform must be tackled, including simplifying the tax code for families and incentivizing small businesses and manufactures to expand and hire new employees. |
