Statement

Date: July 22, 2015
Location: Los Angeles, CA

Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after University of California President Janet Napolitano announced that the minimum wage for University of California workers will be raised to $15 an hour over the next three years:

"I'm thrilled to see the University of California at the forefront of the fight to secure a living wage for hard-working families. A $15/hour minimum wage will make all the difference for UC employees and their families. As California's third largest employer, the UC sends a strong message to the country: it's time to help hard-working Americans who aspire to buy that first home, send their kids to college and save for a secure retirement."
