The House voted today in favor of H.R. 3495, the "Women's Public Health and Safety Act," a bill that would allow states to divert Medicaid funds away from Planned Parenthood clinics. This will allow individual states to direct these funds to more comprehensive care providers, such as Community Health Centers.

"I've visited a number of Community Health Centers in Michigan's First District, and I know that they are greatly in need of additional funding to provide critical women's health services to our community. Sadly, too often these funds are given to Planned Parenthood clinics that offer considerably fewer services and have been exposed for their callous disregard of human life. This bill will allow the state of Michigan to decide where best to allocate resources in order to better serve the health care needs of women and the community at large," said Rep. Benishek, a doctor who treated families in Michigan for over three decades.
