Palazzo Opposes Iran Deal on the House Floor

Statement

Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Foreign Affairs

Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) released the following statement today after the House voted down the president's Iran deal and voted to pass a bill that would keep all current U.S. sanctions on Iran in place:

"I think this is a bad deal, the majority of my colleagues in the House think this is a bad deal, and the majority of the American people think this is a bad deal. Those countries who neighbor and know Iran best have warned us not to enter into this agreement. We don't make deals with people who call for "death to America." It's that simple.

"In the House, we are taking action and exhausting all possible options. We are fighting not only for the will of the American people, but for the safety and security of the American people.

"Earlier this week I called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to take action and institute the "nuclear option" that would require only a 50% +1 majority to vote down this deal. I urged them to try anything and everything possible to stop this deal. However, the Senate's actions, or lack thereof, have been disappointing and less than adequate. We need leadership, and so far they have failed us."
