Fleming Votes Against Funding Planned Parenthood

Statement

Date: Sept. 30, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after raising fiscal concerns with and voting against a $1 trillion stop-gap measure to temporarily fund the government through December 11. The measure passed with a Democrat majority.

"Today's spending bill kicks the can down the road and fails to stop the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, a controversial abortion provider that harvests and sells infant remains; funds the President's illegal executive amnesty actions; and reduces defense spending below previously agreed to limits. The stop-gap measure also raises non-defense related spending while whittling away support necessary for our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. We need to stop blindly funding the President's policies while ensuring that no more taxpayer dollars go toward Planned Parenthood and its grotesque practices. We can and must do better."
