Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) released the following statement after former Congressman Don Edwards passed away yesterday at the age of 100:

"I consider myself fortunate to have served with Don Edwards in Congress. He treated me like a friend and equal at a time when senior members of Congress barely noticed those of us newly elected. Congressman Edwards was an inspiration and a true gentleman. He lived his values with gusto and earned his title as the "conscience of Congress." I will remember my friend Don most as a man of his word. My warmest thoughts and prayers go out to Don Edwards' loved ones as we celebrate the life of this great American."
