Chairman Becerra: We're Ready To Take Speaker Ryan Up On His Offer

Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) released a statement following the vote to elect Rep. Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House:

"I congratulate Paul Ryan for his election today as Speaker of the House. I look forward to working with him, so that together, we can get back to getting things done on a bipartisan basis.

"It was refreshing to hear Speaker Ryan say that in waging their own internal civil war, Republicans "are not solving the country's problems'; they are "only adding to them.'

"In the days ahead, he said, Republicans have "an opportunity to turn the page, to start with a clean slate, and to rebuild what has been lost.'"

"We're ready to take Speaker Ryan up on his offer. We've got a lot to do and not a lot of time. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work."
