U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) helped secure a $386,400 grant for the city of Gary in McDowell County from the Appalachian Regional Commission for the Gary Wastewater System Inspection and Evaluation project. Rep. Jenkins wrote a letter of support to the ARC for the city's grant request.

This grant will help the city conduct a study of its wastewater system and treatment plant to prioritize needed repairs, improve service for its customers, and plan for expanding services.

"Investment in water infrastructure is crucial for West Virginia's rural communities. This project will allow Gary to prioritize its resources to improve its wastewater system, repair issues promptly, and prepare to expand service in the future. This project is an important step to providing better service for the people of Gary and surrounding communities, and I will continue to support funding that invests in rural West Virginia and improves the quality of life for all residents," Rep. Jenkins said.
