Rep. Jenkins: New VA Clinic In Ronceverte

Statement

Date: Dec. 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) thanked the Department of Veterans Affairs today for announcing its further commitment to West Virginia's veterans by signing a lease for a new, permanent clinic in Greenbrier County.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald promised Rep. Jenkins and other members of the congressional delegation in July that the VA would reopen a permanent community-based outpatient clinic in Greenbrier County. The previous clinic was closed after problems with the building, and a temporary clinic will open soon at 3584 Davis Stuart Road in Lewisburg. The new clinic will be located at 228 Shamrock Lane in Ronceverte, and construction will take at least six to eight months.

"West Virginia's veterans depend on the VA for the care they have been promised, and I thank Secretary McDonald for standing by his word. More than 1,700 veterans from Fayette, Greenbrier, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Summers counties rely on this facility and deserve access to quality care close to home. I will continue to monitor progress on this new facility and look forward to seeing it open as soon as possible," Rep. Jenkins said.

Rep. Jenkins wrote a letter to Secretary McDonald in June urging him to reopen a clinic in Greenbrier County. Please click here to read the letter.
