Bilirakis Applauds Energy and Commerce Vote to Help Patients, Families, Consumers

Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced eight bills to help patients, families, consumers, and communities across our nation. The following bills were approved:
H.R. 1321, Microbead-Free Waters Act
H.R. 2017, Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act
H.R. 3014, Medical Controlled Substances Transportation Act
H.R. 3716, Ensuring Terminated Providers Are Removed from Medicaid and CHIP Act
H.R. 3821, Medicaid Directory of Caregivers Act
H. J. Res. 71, Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of a rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency relating to "Standards of Performance for Greenhouse Gas Emissions from New, Modified, and Reconstructed Stationary Sources: Electric Utility Generating Units"
H.J. Res. 72, Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of a rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency relating to "Carbon Pollution Emission Guidelines for Existing Stationary Sources: Electric Utility Generating Units"
S. 611, Grassroots Rural and Small Community Water Systems Assistance Act
"These bills will help patients, families, consumers, and communities across the country," said Congressman Bilirakis. "I am proud we have worked together in a bipartisan fashion to further these important measures. I am especially proud to be a co-sponsor of two Congressional Resolutions of Disapproval that will halt harmful EPA rules. Many Floridians in my district have dealt with the high cost of energy, and more regulations from the EPA would increase the burden of these costs for local businesses and consumers. By advancing these resolutions we can turn the tide on this economic hardship."
"The Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act, HR 2017, which I am also proud to cosponsor, allows businesses in the food industry to provide nutrition information to consumers in the best way possible," added Bilirakis. "I have met with many local businesses that are negatively impacted by the FDA's overly burdensome regulations. With this legislation we help to cut red tape and remove unnecessary barriers so that these businesses can better provide for their consumers."
