Issue Position

We need to see more of the economic successes the Des Moines area has enjoyed translate into opportunities in East Des Moines and Pleasant Hill. I have worked with organizations and individuals to bring their events to our neighborhoods, but overall, I have been disappointed to see a void in support for projects in our part of the metro.

Benefits from tourism, commercial development and other job creation programs have been uneven -- often leaving out neighborhoods in East Des Moines and Pleasant Hill. It is time we invest in these neighborhoods in ways that complement the expansion of service and manufacturing jobs throughout the metro area and support the middle class in our own backyards.
