Labrador Applauds Vote to Repeal Obamacare, Defund Planned Parenthood

Rep. Raúl Labrador, R-Idaho, issued the following statement after Wednesday's vote on the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act. The House passed H.R. 3762 240-181 and the measure now heads to the President.

"Today the House voted to offer relief to the American people, who under Obamacare have been forced to live with higher premiums, rising out-of-pocket expenses and limited access to health care. Consumers demand something better and today the House responded.

"The bill has a second and vitally important provision: a one-year halt of funding for Planned Parenthood. Instead, the funds would go to community health centers providing comprehensive care to women, but not abortions.

"I expect the President will carry out his veto threat, but it's important to contrast a top-down Democratic scheme with reforms House Republicans are working to pass this year. My hope is we will look back at today's vote as a historic step toward patient-centered health care under a new president."
