Fleming: Obama Flunks His Last Budget

Statement

Date: Feb. 10, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. made the following statement after the President released his Fiscal year (FY) 2017 Budget:

"Not surprisingly, the President's $4 trillion budget proposal focuses on expanding the federal government, while forcing hard-working Americans to pay for it. His plan includes vast resources for a Global Climate Change Initiative while underfunding our military. The President has made it clear he cares more about "green energy" than natural security. And instead of cutting back on government overspending, the President proposed increasing the gas tax by $10 per barrel. That's nearly 25 cents per gallon of gas. Yes, the President expects American families to pay higher prices at the pump to fund his political agenda.

"This was the President's last chance to offer a common-sense budget that would put America on the right track financially. Instead, we have a multi-trillion dollar budget that adds to our skyrocketing $19 trillion debt. This is not the way to run a county, Mr. President."
