DeSantis Commends Florida's Passage of Anti-BDS Bill

Date: Feb. 24, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Following the passage of Florida Senate Bill (SB) 86, which would prohibit the Florida state pension from investing in companies who participate in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS) against Israel, Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) issued the following statement:

"BDS is a form of economic warfare against Israel that is rooted in antisemitism and that seeks to delegitimize the world's only Jewish state. I have led efforts in Congress to combat BDS and am happy to see Florida taking a strong stand against the noxious BDS movement. I look forward to Florida joining other states that have taken steps to combat BDS when Governor Scott signs SB 86 into law."

DeSantis, along with Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05), recently introduced the Non-Discrimination of Israel in Labeling Act which aims to stymie the BDS movement and defend the right of Israeli producers to label products manufactured in the West Bank as Israeli-made.
