Santarsiero Campaign reports $222,000 raised in first quarter

The Santarsiero for Congress campaign today announced their fundraising totals for the first quarter of the 2016 cycle. The State Representative will report raising $222,000 from over 600 contributions. The haul is the most a Democratic challenger has ever raised in the first quarter of an election cycle in Pennsylvania's 8th district.

"To have raised this much, this early is quite a statement," said Aubrey Montgomery, a campaign advisor. "With so many contributors, there is enormous room for growth as early supporters continue to give to support Steve throughout the campaign and new supporters continue to join."

Over half of the contributions were $100 or less, demonstrating strong grassroots support for the campaign, and over 99% of the contributors are Pennsylvanians. This release comes on the heels of the announcement of numerous endorsements from local elected officials, demonstrating a strong foundation for the Santarsiero campaign.

"I'm humbled by the swell of support for this campaign," said Steve Santarsiero, "My number one priority has always been working to get the job done, whether we're fighting to create jobs, tackling campaign finance reform, or protecting our environment. I plan to bring that same approach to Washington and I'm honored to have the help of so many to get there."

Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district will be an open seat in 2016 with the retirement of Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick. The Bucks County based seat is a 50-50 district that has long been considered a battleground with a Democratic advantage in presidential cycles.

First quarter fundraising reports are made public on April 15th. For more information on the campaign, visit SantarsieroforCongress.com, Facebook.com/SteveSantarsiero and Twitter.com/SantarsieroPA8.
