Hill Statement on Obamacare Ruling

Statement

Date: May 12, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

After a federal district judge ruled in House v. Burwell that the administration unlawfully funded portions of Obamacare, Congressman French Hill (AR-02) released the following statement:

"On behalf of the entire House, then-Speaker Boehner filed suit against the administration for exceeding its authority in funding parts of the president's healthcare law without an appropriation from Congress. The court's decision today reinforces one of the key components of our entire democracy--our system of checks and balances.

"We need innovative, patient-centered healthcare reform. This should be a wakeup call to Democrats in Washington that not only is Obamacare a disaster that has raised costs and decreased access to healthcare for many hardworking American families, it is also unlawful, and now is the time to work together on real reform."
