Statement

Yesterday, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) voted in support of the National Defense Authorization Act, which provides for our military, focusing on the military readiness crisis by specifically correcting funding shortfalls that have led to a lack of readiness and to a heightened level of risk to our troops and our security.

"I am proud to support this very important, bipartisan legislation that supports our military, strengthens our national security and keeps GITMO prisoners out of the United States, and provides a much deserved pay raise for our troops. Of utmost importance to me is the authorization to increase our Army and Marine end strength, stopping the Obama Administrations massive military cuts. At a time when we are facing growing global threats to our national security we must stand on the side of our brave military men and women, and to stand up for our great nation's security."

"I am also proud of an amendment based on my READI Act that will prohibit housing illegal immigrant minors on military installations. It also includes my amendment that will broaden the scope of research on anti-malarial drugs that have shown signs of confounding the diagnosis of PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury, and produces a myriad of permanent symptoms."
