Location: San Bernadino, CA

Congressman Pete Aguilar has received the endorsement of the Sierra Club, his campaign announced today. The Sierra Club commended Aguilar for his efforts in Congress to address climate change and its impacts. This endorsement follows the recent endorsements of the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund.

"The Sierra Club is proud to once again support Congressman Pete Aguilar," said Jono Hildner, Political Chair of the Sierra Club's San Gorgonio Chapter. "We thank Congressman Aguilar for his commitment to moving our planet away from fossil fuels and toward a more energy efficient, sustainable and healthier future."

Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters.

Commenting on the Sierra Club's endorsement, Congressman Aguilar said, "I take the effects of climate change and pollution very seriously. The Inland Empire deserves a leader in Congress that will continue working to reduce our carbon footprint and prioritize the health and safety of our communities. I'm thankful to have the support of the Sierra Club as we work together to make our planet sustainable for generations to come."

In Congress, Aguilar has voted down Republican attempts to stop the Clean Power Plan and weaken the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. He supports legislation to close environmental loopholes that allow fracking companies to pollute and to make the Land and Water Conservation Fund permanent.

Pete Aguilar represents California's 31st congressional district. He is a strong advocate for economic growth and fairness in the Inland Empire and a leader who reaches across party lines to deliver results for San Bernardino County's middle class.
