Statement from Governor Hassan on Signing Bill to Open the State House on Weekends

Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing House Bill 1531, permitting the legislature to open the State House on weekends:

"Here in the Granite State, we are incredibly proud of our robust citizen-led democracy and vibrant civic society, which is showcased throughout the halls of the State House. This rich history is one of the many reasons that New Hampshire attracts millions of visitors year after year.

"By opening the State House to visitors on the weekends and attracting more visitors to Concord, House Bill 1531 will help boost our travel and tourism industry while highlighting the tradition of civic engagement that helps define who we are as Granite Staters. The State House embodies the spirit of collective problem-solving that keeps New Hampshire moving forward, and I am proud to sign this bipartisan bill into law to increase access to this historic building that represents the important role the Granite State has played and continues to play in shaping American democracy."
