Issues: Immigration

Representative Mark Takano supports comprehensive immigration reform to bring the more than 12 million immigrants living in the United States without legal status out of the shadows.

Many immigrants play an essential role in our economy, especially in states like California with a large agricultural industry.

Rep. Takano has fought in the House to bring the Senate's comprehensive immigration reform bill to a vote.

Pathway to Citizenship
Rep. Takano supports a comprehensive immigration reform plan that includes a fair but tough pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who have worked hard, have lived in this country without committing serious criminal offenses, and believe in the American Dream.

DREAM Act
Rep. Takano believes that young people who were brought to the United States at a young age through no fault of their own and subsequently raised in our nation deserve the opportunity to stay in this country and receive an education.

Uniting Families
Rep. Takano is a cosponsor of the Reuniting Families Act, a bill that addresses the current backlog and prioritizes family-based immigration, and the Uniting American Families Act, which would ensure that all binational couples are treated equally and fairly.
