Issue Position

On the issue of education, my positions could not be more different from those of my opponent.>She has voted repeatedly to cut education funding, expand voucher programs and charter schools which rob public schools of essential resources and she voted to hike college tuition. As a mother of three children, I understand how important it is to provide our children with the best quality education. I see firsthand the gap between the quality of education from neighborhood to neighborhood in our communities. It's wrong to shortchange our public schools while out-of- state, for-profit institutions cash in on our education dollars. Florida's schools are ranked among the nation's lowest in per-pupil funding. I stand for increasing funding to education, restoration of Bright Futures, and full accountability standards for Charter Schools.
