Issue Position: Protecting Southeast Alaska Fisheries

Issue Position

Southeast's economy rests on commercial fishing and sport fishing industries. They are vital industries, and Alaska's watersheds are the lifeblood of the fishing industry.

We must protect our fisheries from mining activity in Canada -- a belief I share with many Southeast cities, tribal groups, and environmental organizations. If those mines move forward, I will do everything I can to make sure the mines are only able to move forward with the strongest security measures in place.

As a member of the Fisheries Committee, I will continue to work with State and Federal officials to address transboundary/border issues. My leadership will help to protect the Southeast Alaska watersheds.
