Issue Position

Traditional marriage between one man and one woman has been reduced from a holy institution to a mere partnership agreement between individuals because our government has been allowed to define what is, or is not, a marriage. Perhaps it's time to separate marriage from government control and give it back to the religious institutions where it started. The government could call all marriages partnership agreements. These agreements would handle the legal issues of relationships. This way we can reserve marriage as a term signifying a union, in accordance to God's Word, blessed by God. This would allow our churches, not the government, to guard marriage.
