Issue Position: Protect our environment for future generations

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2016

Growing up in Greater Minnesota Mary learned to appreciate our great natural resources. As the Chair of the New Brighton Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission, Mary has been a strong advocate for investing in green spaces and programs -- like a local farmer's market and support for urban agriculture -- that advance environmental sustainability. Through the New Brighton League of Women Voters, she collaborated on the research and drafting of the policy paper The Impact of Neonicotinoid on Honey Bees, which makes a strong case for environmental protections that prevent further colony collapse disorder and agricultural losses. Mary believes that strong communities must have healthy green spaces, parks and trails, and gardens for neighbors to gather and grow in. As a State Legislator, Mary will continue to build on this work to make sure that our natural resources are there -- and clean -- for future generations.
