Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after learning that the United States agreed to allow Iran to avoid some restrictions in the nuclear deal so that the country could start getting relief from economic sanctions.

"Just when you think the deal our country made with Iran couldn't get any worse, we learn the Obama Administration has cut yet another secret side deal. It's reckless to allow Iran access to additional nuclear material and manufacturing ability, regardless of Iran's stated purpose. This follows up news just last month that the President kept Congress in the dark about an untraceable cash transfer to Iran in January. President Obama keeps placing Iranian priorities above our own. These decisions put America and our allies in the Middle East at great risk. I consider the deal our president struck last year null and void. Misleading the American people must have consequences.

"I was one of only 25 House members along with only one senate member (Sen. Cotton) who said no to allowing this deal to move forward as a non-treaty. Today's news makes it clear this president was never to be trusted with an Iranian deal or with our national security."
