Rep. Sanchez Statement on New York and New Jersey Bombings

Statement

Date: Sept. 19, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46), senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement about the New York and New Jersey bombings:

"I commend and am grateful for our first responders' swift and well-coordinated response to the explosions in New York City and New Jersey. I wish a full and speedy recovery to all those injured in the Chelsea explosion. Thanks to the tireless joint efforts of our law enforcement and federal agencies, the bombing suspect has been apprehended and taken into custody. As investigators conduct this unfolding investigation thoroughly, Americans should feel confident that as soon as authorities are able to determine any additional individuals or groups responsible for the bombings they will be found and brought to justice. These disturbing events are a reminder that Americans must remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior or threats. More than ever, it's critical that we pass a budget with adequate resources for counterterrorism efforts and for law enforcement to handle these situations, deter threats, and secure our nation."
