Lamborn Slams Phoenix VA for Neglect of Veterans

Congressman Lamborn has released the following statement in response to a new OIG Report about the Phoenix VA Healthcare System:

"I am appalled at the continued neglect of veterans at the Phoenix VA. Despite Secretary McDonald's repeated assurances to the House Veterans Affairs Committee, the revelations from the new OIG report conclusively show that the status quo still reigns supreme at the VA. I offer my condolences to veterans and their families who have been impacted by the culture of corruption that continues to pervade the VA.

The OIG report also makes it clear that the Veterans Health Administration as it currently exists is not capable of reforming itself. From senior leadership to mid-level bureaucrats and the lowliest scheduler, the entire system resists any changes that would truly put the veteran first. Congress needs to make reforming the VHA its top priority in the coming year, and I intend to urge my colleagues on the House Veterans Affairs Committee to do just that."
