Newsletter - 58th Presidential Inauguration

Today was the 58th Presidential Inauguration and the swearing in of our 45th President.

It's an amazing time to be in Washington, D.C. Many people are filled with great optimism for our country. Hundreds of thousands of people are here for this occasion, and millions more tuned into the event on their televisions or live-streamed from their computers.

This morning, I was behind the platform in front of the Capitol dome, watching Donald J. Trump and Mike Pence recite the oath of office. It was truly an honor to be among the leaders of our country witnessing this historic event.

For over 200 years, America has transferred leadership from President to President, from party to party. Many elections, such as this past election, have been contentious, but this country has found a way to peacefully pass the baton to its new Commander in Chief. This is one of the many attributes that make our country one of the strongest and freest in the world, and I am extremely grateful to witness another example of the peaceful transition of power between Presidents.

As the new administration takes office, we also inherit the great responsibility to lead the country, to listen to the people who elected us, and to keep the promises we made to our constituents. I believe that the Trump administration will keep its promises to the American people, and I look forward to working with him to help make Arizona's 5th Congressional District greater than ever before.

Cindy and I will be praying for our new President and his entire Administration as they accept this office and hope that wisdom guides their way.

It is an honor to serve you as your Representative in Congress, and I look forward to getting back to work next week again for you.
