Congressman Andy Biggs' Statement on President Donald Trump's Budget Blueprint

Statement

Date: March 17, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Yesterday, the White House released its fiscal year 2018 budget proposal to Congress, which would increase funding to the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs while reigning in spending in other government departments and agencies. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"President Donald Trump's budget helps return government to its constitutional constraints and authority, giving me great cause for optimism. I am encouraged by its commitment to prioritizing America's security and the needs of our veterans while also requiring the federal government to slash out-of-control spending and address an unsustainable national debt approaching twenty trillion dollars. Everyday Americans diligently manage each dollar they make to live within their means, and they expect the federal government to do the same. I agree with the direction of this budget proposal, and I will continue to work with my colleagues and the administration to pass a budget that upholds the promises we have made to our constituents and returns America to a path of balanced budgets for our grandchildren."
