Banks Votes Yes on REINS Act

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Tonight Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) voted for the H.R. 26, the REINS Act, legislation that would require all new major federal rules to be approved by both Congress and the president.

"Under the Obama Administration, government agencies have implemented 570 rules with an economic impact of $100 million or more each. These were all rules that Congress never authorized. These rules unnecessarily burden small businesses in Indiana and prevent them from expanding and creating more jobs. It's time to restore Congress' constitutionally mandated role and take back power that has slowly been ceded to government bureaucrats. The REINS Act is an important step towards reining in an out-of-control federal bureaucracy."
