Rokita Meets with President, Voices Support for Plan to Repeal Obamacare

Statement

Date: March 9, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Todd Rokita, Vice Chairman of the House Budget Committee, released this statement following a meeting with President Donald Trump to discuss and work on the budgetary aspects of proposed defense spending levels and the American Health Care Act.

"I had a detailed discussion today with President Trump about the many problems caused by ObamaCare and the need to enact truly patient-centered reforms that will finally fix this mess. Obamacare has led to fewer options and higher costs for Hoosier businesses and families, all after being rushed through Congress and sold to the public using false promises. The President and House Republicans are not repeating those mistakes. Our proposal empowers patients and doctors by providing lower costs and more choices. I will keep working to improve the bill as it comes to the Budget Committee next week.

"Throughout the meeting, I was impressed with President Trump's attention to detail, making sure that not only our health care proposal, but also plans to fund our nation's defense and the budget itself, are fiscally responsible and keep the promises made to the American people last year."
