Trump Halts Job-Killing Rule

Statement

Date: June 27, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement on the Trump administration's withdrawal of the Waters of the United States rule:

"The Trump administration has halted one of most damaging, job-killing rules from the Obama era. This rule represents the Obama administration's legacy in West Virginia -- more government overreach and fewer jobs. This rule threatened the jobs of farmers, miners and small businesses in West Virginia and across the nation. I fought in Congress for two years to pass legislation and cut the EPA's budget to block this rule, and I applaud President Trump for his leadership in acting to protect American jobs," Rep. Jenkins said.

Both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate passed S.J. Res 22, a resolution of disapproval of the Waters of the United States rule, during the 114th Congress. President Obama vetoed the resolution in January 2016.
