Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Sam Graves issued the following statement after helping pass H.R. 3219, The Make America Secure Appropriations Act, that includes robust funding for defense, a 2.4% pay raise for our troops, construction of a border wall, and keeps the President's promise to take care of our nation's veterans.

"After years of harmful cuts to key national security programs under the last Administration, this bill takes steps toward rebuilding our military and ensuring our nation is ready to meet any new or existing national security threats both at home and abroad. This measure reflects the spending priorities of President Trump and the Republican Congress -- namely that the defense of our nation is the Federal Government's primary responsibility as laid out in the Constitution."

Graves continued, "I stand with the President in providing the necessary funding to build the wall and increasing our border security efforts to stop the harmful effects of illegal immigration on our country. This bill is a down payment on that effort."
