Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement today after voting in favor of H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act. This legislation prevents taxpayer dollars from being used to fund abortions through government programs.

"The government has a responsibility to respect the nearly two-thirds of Americans who do not want their tax dollars used to fund abortions," Smith said. "I will never waver in defending the sanctity of life as a cornerstone of our democracy."

Smith, a member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, also cosponsored the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act this week for the 115th Congress.
