Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding former FBI Director James Comey's testimony before the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee.

"Jim Comey's testimony today is an important step forward in the investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 Election. The information and testimony he presented suggests that the special counsel will have to consider possible obstruction of justice. While I am not a lawyer or a prosecutor, it appears that President Trump worked to impede the Russian investigation.

"We still need more answers on Russia's involvement in the 2016 Election and I look forward to the special counsel continuing its investigation. These events further underscore why I have continued to demand an independent commission with subpoena power. The American people deserve to know the facts."
