Mr. Chairman

I am pleased to appear before you today to voice my strong support for Michael Juneau to serve as United States District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana.

Mr. Juneau will provide strong leadership to the Western District of Louisiana. He is eminently qualified and will serve the state of Louisiana and country well in this new position.

Michael J. Juneau obtained a B.S. degree in Accounting, magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 1984, and a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1987. While in law school, he was selected best oralist in his first year Ames Moot Court Competition and also served as a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in the State of Louisiana, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and in the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Juneau is a Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and has served as an elected member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association, as well as a member of the board of directors for the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Lafayette Bar Association, the Christian Legal Society, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and the John M. Duhe American Inn of Court.

Mr. Juneau is active in his local church and in many other civic and charitable organizations. He has served as secretary of the Board of Trustees of Westminster Christian Academy, secretary and board member for Bridge Ministry of Acadiana, and as a director for the Lafayette, Louisiana YMCA.

I recommend Michael Juneau to this committee without reservation and urge his swift confirmation through this committee and Senate.

Thank you
