Date: Nov. 14, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today acted to provide needed resources so that our troops can better defend the homeland. Olson voted for the Conference Report to H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes funding to give our military critical resources to protect our nation from growing threats overseas. It also gives our troops a 2.4% pay raise, the biggest pay raise in eight years. The bill passed the House with an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 356-70 and now heads to the Senate for consideration.

"Passing this bill is an important step to help the courageous men and women who risk everything to protect our homeland," Rep. Pete Olson said. "This bill gives our troops a much deserved pay raise and makes key investments in critical capabilities to support U.S. military readiness, deter aggression, and to respond to growing threats from Iran, North Korea and ISIS. As a Navy veteran, I will do everything in my power to ensure our military has the resources they need to perform the difficult task of keeping the threats America faces off our shores and protect every citizen from overseas threats. "
