21,391 WV Children Depend on CHIP

Statement

Date: Jan. 19, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Throughout the day on Friday, U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) will be highlighting on social media just how many children in West Virginia's Third Congressional District depend on CHIP.

As of December 2017, 21,391 children in West Virginia were enrolled in CHIP, with 7,147 of those living in the Third District.

In the district, Raleigh County has the highest number, with 999 children participating in CHIP. Statewide, Kanawha County has the most at 2,112 children enrolled.

"Reauthorizing CHIP is critically important, which is why I've helped pass a long-term reauthorization twice in the House. In fact, the one we sent to the Senate on Thursday is for six years -- the longest in the history of the program. We can't forget that 21,391 children and their families in West Virginia are depending on the Senate to pass this bill and protect their healthcare. Will Senate Democrats stand with these West Virginia families or shut the government down over illegal immigration?" Rep. Jenkins said.
