Chairman Womack: "Challenging work ahead on the budget"

House Budget Committee Chairman Steve Womack issued the following statement after the Committee conducted a hearing on the Budget and Economic Outlook, often referred to as the "baseline." Published earlier this week by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), this annual report provides CBO's budget and economic projections for the next 10 years.

"While CBO's Budget and Economic Outlook predicts where the nation could be headed, it does not have to dictate what our fiscal future will be," said Chairman Steve Womack. "Although CBO's projections are daunting, they highlight the necessity of making the tough choices to secure a prosperous nation for generations to come. As we craft the budget resolution in the coming days, it will be a challenge. But I am confident our committee is up to the task of crafting a responsible, balanced plan."
