Press Release

Date: April 22, 2018
Location: Chicago, IL

Today, JB Pritzker and Juliana Stratton celebrated Earth Day by touring a green jobs facility and participating in a park planting with Sierra Club.

They began the day at IBEW NECA Technical Institute in Alsip:

Then, JB and Juliana joined State Senator Tony Munoz and Alderman George Cardenas for a park planting at McKinley Park:

"On Earth Day and every day, it's important that we commit to protecting our environment and creating a greener future," said JB Pritzker. "As governor, I'll bring labor and environmental stakeholders to the table to put Illinois on a path toward 100% clean, renewable energy and create good paying jobs. While Bruce Rauner stands with Donald Trump and Scott Pruitt in decimating funding for conservation, I'll work to pass a balanced budget every year so that environmental and conservation groups have reliable funding to protect our earth. It's time Illinois had a governor who stands on the side of science and protects our environment and that's the leader I will be for Illinois."

"Every Illinois child deserves and needs access to safe and healthy outdoor spaces where they can experience nature and get a break from our hectic, digital lives. Unfortunately, Illinois' commitment to conservation and protecting our natural heritage has eroded under Bruce Rauner. Our state parks are crumbling, and the Department of Natural Resources is a hollow shell of its former self," said Jack Darin, Director of the Sierra Club, Illinois Chapter. "With Donald Trump trying to take America backward and opt us out of the global effort to fight climate change, Illinois needs a Governor who knows that clean energy will create good jobs, protect consumers, and improve our environment. JB Pritzker's bold goals of a 100% clean energy supply for Illinois, and action to reduce carbon emissions, will secure Illinois' position as a leader in the clean energy economy for decades to come."
