Governor Chris Sununu Statement on CACR 22

Statement

Date: April 26, 2018
Location: Concord, NH

Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statement after the House Finance Committee voted Ought To Pass on Senate Bills 590 and 592, reforming the state's DCYF and mental health system:

"I want to thank the House Finance Committee for their strong, bipartisan support for two cornerstone pieces of my legislative agenda -- Senate Bills 590 and 592," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Last year, with the help of this legislature, we began making critical investments in these areas with House Bill 400 and the state budget by rebuilding, redesigning, and re-engineering the state's child welfare system with new leadership. Failing to fix our state's DCYF, mental health system, and our foster care system are not options -- they are absolute necessities. These are not areas that we have the luxury of putting off for another day. Together, these were necessary steps forward that placed New Hampshire in a position to continue to address these critical issues."

"We are making great strides forward, but more work is needed and that is why Senate Bills 590 and 592 are so critical. The solutions contained in these bills reinforce my commitment to ensuring that those most in need of assistance have access to support services. It is my strong hope that the full House of Representatives will join me in supporting them."
