Chairman Womack: "Balancing the budget is a team effort"

House Budget Committee Chairman Steve Womack issued the following statement after the Committee conducted its annual Members' Day hearing, in which members were invited to present their ideas for the fiscal year 2019 budget resolution.

"Balancing the budget is a team effort. While the House Budget Committee is responsible for putting forward a budget resolution, that plan is made better when members of the whole House actually engage in the process. Our Members' Day hearing provided the required forum and a formal opportunity for members to do just that. I am disappointed only one member utilized it. Today's lack of participation highlights Congress's disengagement and the dysfunction of the budget process."
